Resident Shapers

I started shaping at the age of 16, just messing around seeing if I could pull one off. No training, full freestyle.

I made a few over the next couple of years for myself. At the age of 21 I was riding for Colleta Surfboards. He let me sit on a couple. Then I asked Dick Keating (who is the Man on complete surfboards) to teach me the ropes. He was super cool about the whole thing and let me shape, glass and sand my boards at his house. At the same time, he was teaching Shawn Rhodes how to shape. We eventually started doing more and more boards and needed our own place. Shawn and I built a backyard style set-up. That only lasted a couple of years until the city found out and made us tear it down.

We rented a big warehouse, built it up from scratch and did everything in-house. Almost 9 years later we are still here. Neptune Surfbaords is fully homegrown out of Pedro Point. We constantly feed off of each other and test all of our own equipment from 2 foot to 20 foot surf. I've ridden about 200 of my own boards all around the world, which teaches me a lot about what I'm making.
